Rainey Cruz is the Communications Manager at BCDI. They were born in The Caribbean and raised on traditional Lenape territory, otherwise recognized as New York City. They are a first generation college graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Communications from The College of Mount Saint Vincent in Rananchqua, otherwise known as The Bronx. Observation, unconventionality, sensitivity, and disruption are the qualities that guide their multifaceted work. Hip-Hop, magic, queerness, and cross-cultural indigeneity are their sources of inspiration.. Mass Appeal, The Hundreds, LVMH, Catholic Charities, and The Albert Einstein College of Medicine are some of the names, platforms, organizations, and publications that they’ve worked with and for prior to BCDI. They are also a co-founder and original member of Uptown Vinyl Supreme, a Bronx-born DJ collective.
