The Bronx Cooperative Development initiative (@bronxfuture ) was born out of a grassroots response to redevelopment plans for the Kingsbridge Armory, beginning in 2008, under Mayor Bloomberg.
The city planned to contract private developers from outside the borough to redevelop the historic site into The Kingsbridge Army National Ice Center. Bronx Cooperative Development Initiative (BCDI) was ultimately founded by @northwestbronx , mothersonthemove, @thepointcdc, amongst others, as an urban planning organization to ensure that economic development in the borough is in the best interest of its residents.
