BCDI Welcomes Gloria Alvarez as our Strategic Partnerships Manager!

BCDI is excited to welcome Gloria Alvarez as the new Strategic Partnership Manager at BCDI.  Gloria is excited about working in the Bronx and knows how to cultivate stakeholders and relationships with highly resourced people with good intentions, as well as grassroots organizations at the forefront of change. 

Gloria comes to BCDI with 10 years of nonprofit work experience, including leveraging resources and partnerships for topline institutions and representing workers and unions as a Contract and Grievance Enforcement Officer. She worked as a Senior Project Manager at Color of Change, a national progressive civil rights organization known for its strong campaigns on issues ranging from criminal justice, economic inequality and immigrants’ rights. Gloria represented Harvard, Tufts and Brandeis University service employees at 32BJ Service International Union. After the 2016 elections, Gloria moved to New York where she assisted undocumented peoples and DACA recipients while serving as the Queens Library's Immigration Counselor. During her free time, Gloria volunteers with adult and incarcerated youth at New York State prisons.

Gloria is passionate about social justice.  She is keen on assessing how to honor her core values while leveraging the powerful interests, assets, and opportunities in the Bronx.
